Join us for a special movement workshop led by Lani Nahele, offering an opportunity to explore Contact Improvisation, Body-Mind Centering®, and embodied movement practices in a supportive and creative environment.
Welcoming movers of all backgrounds and experience levels, this workshop invites participants to trust sensation as a guide, allowing movement to emerge through inquiry, presence, and relationship. Drawing from decades of practice in Contact Improvisation, Contemporary/Postmodern Dance, and Body-Mind Centering®, Lani will guide participants through developmental movement patterns, anatomical exploration, spatial relationships, and movement improvisation in both solo and partnered practices.
Inspired by the spirals found in nature, the body, and human development, participants will engage in structured exercises that cultivate greater awareness, efficiency, responsiveness, and connection through movement.
What is Contact Improvisation?
Contact Improvisation is a movement practice centered on listening through touch, weight sharing, momentum, and gravity. Through physical dialogue and moment-to-moment responsiveness, participants explore balance, disorientation, and the creative possibilities that emerge between two moving bodies.
What is Body-Mind Centering®?
Body-Mind Centering® (BMC®) is an integrated and embodied approach to movement, anatomy, and consciousness developed by Bonnie Bainbridge Cohen. It is an experiential study that utilizes movement, touch, voice, and mind to deepen understanding of the body and its developmental processes.
